Bomberos de Nosara provides fast, reliable emergency response to the
community—because in a crisis, every second counts!
We are around 35 firefighters and lifeguards, with a water‑tank vehicle
and several rescue units. We respond to fires, medical emergencies,
rescues, and any urgent needs in the Nosara district.
We rely fully on donations (local or international) to keep running.

WHO WE ARE
Firefighters are essential to the safety and security of our local communities
Only a decade ago, a serious fire in Nosara meant waiting for the regional Fire Department to travel over an hour on bad roads. Despite best efforts, their arrival time was often too late. In November 2009 a local resident decided this life or death time delay demanded a local response. Armed with basic, donated firefighting equipment he sounded a rallying cry for volunteer firefighters. The call was answered by a small, committed crew of selfless public servants ready to take up the fight.
A decade since their formation, these volunteers have saved countless homes, lives, and livelihoods, and evolved into an indispensable, and highly utilized community resource. They remain on call night and day to be wherever needed at a moments notice. And the only reason they continue to exist is through your donations.
Although highly trained, these men and women, many of whom have full-time jobs and / or families, are not professionals. In the beginning, expenses such as protective gear, tools, transport, supplies, and much more, came out of their own pocket. As their call volume shot up, this funding model became unsustainable. Nowadays, the only reason Nosaras volunteer team of firefighters are stronger, quicker, better trained, and better equipped than ever is because of the donations they receive

As a volunteer organization, it can be a real struggle to acquire the correct safety gear, supplies, equipment, clothing, vehicle maintenance and fuel that we need. This all requires extensive financial funding, which can only be raised via your donations.
Bomberos De Nosara operates as a non-profit under Amigos Of Costa Rica; a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
